As we performed our Christmas show early this year it gave us a chance to make these snowmen with the children. The boys and girls enjoyed making their snowmen, from the sanding down of the timber to making the hats and scarves they worked very hard. 

Boys and girls in the Senior Room made an Active Advent Tree. For each day of advent they made a card and in this card was an active challenge to take part in every day. The boys and girls enjoy taking part in their active challenge at the end of each day.

As part of 'Wellness Week' the boys and girls picked a secret friend for the week. Each child picked a child's name out of a box and the boy/girl that they picked was their secret friend. They then had to be a good friend to this person and be extra kind to them.   

Last week was 'Wellness Week' in our school. Children took part in many different activities to make them feel good about themselves and others. The boys and girls favourite day was definitely Feel Good Friday where pupils had a non uniform day and we ordered pizza for our lunch.

This week we made our own puppets.

In school we have been learning all about how to look after animals. The boys and girls were delighted to put what they had learned into practice by taking care of two pet rabbits for the week.

We had a busy week in school this week. The boys and girls enjoyed taking part in many different science activities to celebrate Science Week.

Today the boys and girls were encouraged to get creative. We recycled household items and made them into cool robots. The boys and girls enjoyed making their robots and they were very proud of their finished art work.

On the 21st of October we visited a local pumpkin patch. Many thanks to Alan Feighery for giving the boys and girls of Broughall NS the opportunity of picking out their own pumpkins from his pumpkin patch. 

​On the 18th of October, Holly our Hooves 4 Hospice was sold at Birr Mart. Michael Carroll did a great job feeding and taking good care of Holly. As the school was involved with the purchasing of Holly we brought the Senior Room pupils to the mart to view the sale of Holly. Holly was sold for €1030 and all of this money will go to Hooves4Hospice.

In school we were learning all about the lifecycle of the butterfly. We got to observe caterpillars grow and go through the different stages of its life and turn into a butterfly. On Friday we released our butterflies, it was lovely to see the children handle the butterflies with such care. 

​Last Friday the junior room went on a nature walk. We walked down the Cultree road and into the fields. The children listened to the different sounds of the countryside and in groups they made a face out of different things they could find in the field. The boys and girls enjoyed the walk and found some interesting items to put in their nature bag. 

On Friday the 18th of June, 3rd – 6th class participated in fun water activities on the River Shannon in Banagher. It is important that in these times, children have fun social activities to enjoy. We thank our Board of Management for funding this activity.

Sports Day took place on Thursday the 15th of June. On the day, boys and girls took part in many fun activities. At the end of the day each child received a certificate for taking part in our sports day. The boys and girls were also treated to an ice-cream cone. Our Board of Management had organised an ice-cream van to visit the school. We thank our Board of Management for their continued support in everything we do.

On Monday the 24th of May we received a letter from Farm Safe Schools Ireland. This letter stated that Seán Egan was a FBD Farm Safe Schools Regional Champion Runner Up. We are very proud of Seán for all his work and efforts that he has put into this project. We presented Seán with his certificate and gift. Well done Seán, keep up the super work.

On Friday the 11th of June pupils from the Junior Room spent the day in Boora. We released our frogs and froglets and took part in different activities throughout the day. Thanks to the BOM the boys and girls had their lunch and an ice-cream cone from The Organic Kitchen. It was a great day which was enjoyed by all.

All classes engaged in a dance workshop. Lisa Hogan was our dance instructor. She was great at getting everyone motivated and the children really enjoyed the workshop. Thanks to the BOM for covering the cost of this workshop.

Twice a week children are taught how to play different playground games. The boys and girls enjoy learning the games and play them independently at break time. 

​Boys and girls in the junior room are busy cooking up all sorts of dishes in their new mud kitchen. The mud kitchen is a great way of promoting imagination play, language development and cognitive growth. It is lovely to see all the boys and girls playing together and having so much fun.
