OFFALY SPORTS PARTNERSHIP VIDEO PROGRAMME
The school took part in the Offaly Sports Partnership Video Programme. Children took part in dance, yoga and strength and conditioning activities within the programme. It was super to see all the boys and girls enjoying all their movement lessons.
Athletics
We are delighted to have an athletics coach visit our school every Wednesday for the next six weeks. It is great to see the children so active and enjoying the programme.
Athletics
St. Kierans NS is currently taking part in an eight week athletics programme. At the start of the programme the pupils undergo time trials and their times are recorded. The pupils then take part in one athletic session a week which involves different types of relays and exercises. At the end of the eight weeks the pupils take the time trials again and hopefully all pupils fitness levels have increased.

Dance
Since returning after the mid-term break we have been working on the dance strand of the PE curriculum. All classes got involved and had a lot of fun while keeping fit.
Healthy Eating Week
As part of 'Healthy Eating Week' we integrated healthy eating into many of our curricular subjects throughout the week. We encouraged pupils to bring in healthy lunches everyday and we also hosted a breakfast club. Every morning all pupils sat together to enjoy a wholesome breakfast. Children enjoyed beans and toast, a selection of cereals and porridge with honey and fruit. We also arranged for Dr. Caoimhe Gibbins to come out to the school to give a talk to parents about healthy eating.

Our Second Active Schools Flag
St. Kieran's NS was very proud to receive their second Active Schools Flag. We are one of eleven schools in Co. Offaly to have received an Active School Flag. On Friday the 7th of November we had great excitement in school as the Daverns from Ireland Fittest Family came to visit the school. The Daverns started off by talking to the children about fitness and nutrition and of course the TV show. The children then got the opportunity to ask lots of questions. Everybody then gathered outside for the raising of our Active Schools Flag. The Daverns kindly agreed to play a game of soccer with the children. Everybody had a great day and thanks to the Daverns for coming out to our school.
Most active person of the week.

The Young Whistlers
All the pupils were very excited to take part in the young whistlers programme. It gave each pupil a chance to be a referee during football games. To be a referee they needed to learn all the rules of the game. All pupils loved taking part in the programme and as a result of the programme Cathal Kilmartin got the chance to referee in Croke Park at half time games. Well done everybody!
