Colin Dunne Track and Field Championship
Well done to our boys who proudly represented our school at the Colin Dunne Track and Field Championship! They competed with determination in the shot put, long jump, 100m sprint, and 600m events. Each of them gave it their all and enjoyed the experience. We’re proud of their effort, sportsmanship, and the way they represented our school!
Hip Hop Dance Lessons
All pupils are taking part in Hip Hop dance lessons every Friday. The children are really enjoying creating new dance routines, and it’s fantastic to see everyone getting involved and having fun.
FAI Soccer Blitz
Today, the boys and girls in the Senior Room took part in a FAI soccer blitz in Leah Victoria Park, Tullamore. They played very well and we had a great day.
Badminton
Well done to Megan, Luke and Tiana who won medals in their recent badminton competition.
Hurling/Camogie Coaching
All pupils take part in hurling/camogie coaching with Shane each week. It’s great to see more and more children independently bringing their hurls to school to play hurling/camogie at break times. Children from 2nd class to 6th class also have the opportunity to take part in after school every Monday from 3pm-4pm.
Offaly Interschools Fast Feet Competition
Our boys and girls from 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes competed in the Offaly Interschools Fast Feet Competition, which was held in Rath. Each boy and girl competed in three races, the speed and determination they displayed in these races was brilliant. Well done boys and girls!
Offaly Schools Cross Country
Well done to the boys and girls who represented Broughall NS in the Offaly Schools Cross Country. It was great to see students from 2nd class to 6th class enjoying taking part in the event. Well done boys and girls!
Tag Rugby
All classes enjoyed taking part in Tag Rugby coaching every Wednesday for six weeks.
Athletics
This month saw the start of our Fast Feet programme. All classes are engaging in Athletics coaching every Friday. At the end of the coaching sessions, children from 1st class to 4th class will compete in a sprint competition against other schools. Thanks to Joanne our Athletics coach for making it so much fun.
Sports Day
Last week the boys and girls took part in Sports Day. I had sent out texts wear sunscreen, bring spare socks in case it was wet and we had the willies on hand if we needed them but thankfully it was just the sunscreen that was needed on the day. We had a great day and the boys and girls took part in many outdoor games. The boys and girls were also treated to pizza and ice-cream on the day which they enjoyed. The main event of the day was the tug of war challenge pupils against teachers but I’m sorry to say that the teachers lost again this year, we didn’t stand a chance. Well done boys and girls!
Athletics
Our Senior Infants to 4th class enjoyed a brilliant days Athletics in Crinkle Athletics Field today. Our boys and girls were competing with 8 other schools in what was a very well organised event. The boys and girls ran 60m races, 300/400 metre races, took part in relay races and did the ball throw. Well done Boys and girls.
Soccer
Well done to the boys and girls who competed in the Section 'A' 5 a side competition in Leah Victoria Park, Tullamore. They won some, they lost some and they had lots of fun!
Acro Dance
All pupils took part and completed their 4 week programme of Acro Dance. The children were brilliant in their engagement with acrobatics and dance. Well done boys and girls.
Sports Day
Sports Day took place on Thursday the 15th of June. On the day, boys and girls took part in many fun activities. At the end of the day each child received a certificate for taking part in our sports day. The boys and girls were also treated to an ice-cream cone. Our Board of Management had organised an ice-cream van to visit the school. We thank our Board of Management for their continued support in everything we do.
Athletics
The boys and girls began their 6 week programme of athletics coaching today. With hurling coaching taking place every Wednesday also - the month of May will be a very active month for all at Broughall NS. Many thanks to our coaches Kevin and Emmett for all their hard work.
Gymnastics
Hurling
Boys and girls in all classes are really enjoying their programme of hurling and camogie coaching. Thanks Kevin in promoting the game in our school. We can really see great improvement in all the boys and girls with every week that passes. Well done boys and girls.
Rugby Coaching
This term all the boys and girls are taking part in rugby coaching. They are enjoying learning all the different skills involved with the game. They are all great friends but when it comes to rugby they are all very competative.
Sports Day

Active Schools Week
Active Schools Week took place from Monday 14th -Friday 18th June. We had a fantastic week keeping active. The pupils participated in lots of fun activities like zumba, basketball, rounders, treasure hunts and nature walks. Well done to all the boys and girls for their great efforts.

Dance Workshop
All classes engaged in a dance workshop. Lisa Hogan was our dance instructor. She was great at getting everyone motivated and the children really enjoyed the workshop. Thanks to the BOM for covering the cost of this workshop.
Playground Games
Twice a week children are taught how to play different playground games. The boys and girls enjoy learning the games and play them independently at break time.
Athletics
Our school has been selected to avail of the Offaly Sports partnership outdoor fitness programme. This is a six week programme where the main focus is on teaching children athletics and improving their fitness levels.
Dance
Since returning after the mid-term break we have been working on the dance strand of the PE curriculum. All classes got involved and had a lot of fun while keeping fit.

Senior Room School Trip
On Friday the 18th of June, 3rd – 6th class participated in fun water activities on the River Shannon in Banagher. It is important that in these times, children have fun social activities to enjoy. We thank our Board of Management for funding this activity.
