Our Visit to Ferbane Firestation
As part of our stay Safe programme we visited Ferbane Firestation. The children really enjoyed the experience and the staff at the firestation were wonderful in how they worked with the boys and girls.
The boys and girls also visited Ferbane Fire Station. Here they learned about fire safety and got the opportunity to experience the life of a fire fighter as they got hands on experience with the equipment used by the Fire Service. Again the experience proved to be an excellent learning opportunity for all the boys and girls. We are most thankful to all those in Ferbane Firestation for this opportunity. The school also wishes to thank our hardworking Board of Management who fully funded both trips. Míle buíochas to all concerned.
Dún na Sí
On Tuesday the 8th of October, the Junior classes visited Dun na Sí in Moate. This visit was part of their history project ‘Living Long Ago’. The children got to view items which were features of home life and agriculture, long ago. The children made comparisons with these items and pictures of modern day items. It proved to be a really worthwhile educational exercise, and it was clear that the children benefitted greatly from the trip. We wish to thank our Board of Management who paid for the bus and the admission fee. Your support is much appreciated.

School Tour 2016
This year the whole school headed off to Dublin on our school tour. We headed to Collins Barracks first to learn about and look at artefacts from the Easter Rising. We then headed to the Phoenix Park for our lunch. It was a beautiful, sunny day. Next we headed to Glasnevin Cemetery to see where many great Irish people such as Daniel O'Connell, Michael Collins and Eamonn de Valera are buried. It was very enjoyable day out.
