In school we were learning all about the lifecycle of the butterfly. We got to observe caterpillars grow and go through the different stages of its life and turn into a butterfly. On Friday we released our butterflies, it was lovely to see the children handle the butterflies with such care.

Last Friday the junior room went on a nature walk. We walked down the Cultree road and into the fields. The children listened to the different sounds of the countryside and in groups they made a face out of different things they could find in the field. The boys and girls enjoyed the walk and found some interesting items to put in their nature bag.   On Friday the 18th of June, 3rd – 6th class participated in fun water activities on the River Shannon in Banagher. It is important that in these times, children have fun social activities to enjoy. We thank our Board of Management for funding this activity.   Sports Day took place on Thursday the 15th of June. On the day, boys and girls took part in many fun activities. At the end of the day each child received a certificate for taking part in our sports day. The boys and girls were also treated to an ice-cream cone. Our Board of Management had organised an ice-cream van to visit the school. We thank our Board of Management for their continued support in everything we do.    On Monday the 24th of May we received a letter from Farm Safe Schools Ireland. This letter stated that Seán Egan was a FBD Farm Safe Schools Regional Champion Runner Up. We are very proud of Seán for all his work and efforts that he has put into this project. We presented Seán with his certificate and gift. Well done Seán, keep up the super work.   On Friday the 11th of June pupils from the Junior Room spent the day in Boora. We released our frogs and froglets and took part in different activities throughout the day. Thanks to the BOM the boys and girls had their lunch and an ice-cream cone from The Organic Kitchen. It was a great day which was enjoyed by all. All classes engaged in a dance workshop. Lisa Hogan was our dance instructor. She was great at getting everyone motivated and the children really enjoyed the workshop. Thanks to the BOM for covering the cost of this workshop. |
