We would like to extend a big thank you to Alan Feighery for giving each pupil in the school a pumpkin. Each pupil went out to Feighery’s field where they saw where pumpkins are grown. The pupils then picked out their own pumpkin and returned into school. The pupils had lots of fun carving out their pumpkins. It was great to see all the older children helping the younger ones. All children were very proud of their finished pumpkins. We are very grateful to Feighery’s for supplying each pupil with a pumpkin. Today we went on a school trip to the library. We had a great time. Funny stories were read to us, we talked about all different types of books and even got to learn some pirate language.
Autumn is such a fun time to play outside. Children love to play with all the fallen leaves scattered upon the ground. In school we looked to enhance this playtime and got the children four new wheelbarrow sets along with shovels, rakes and buckets. It’s great to see the children so happy and having great fun playing together.
To take part in 'Maths Week' we went to the local woods to complete our maths trail. It was a great way to bring maths outdoors and to see the pupils engaging in maths in such a fun way. It was also a great opportunity to take a closer look at nature and to see how beautiful our Irish woodland is. We are so proud our boys and girls football teams who have reached the Cumann na mBunscol football finals. The boys final Kilcormac/Broughall v's Clonlisk will be played on Thursday the 18th of October in St. Brendan's Park, Birr at 3:15pm. The girls final will be in O'Connor Park the following week.
