FOOTBALL ALLIANZ CUMANN NA MBUNSCOL BOYS GROUP G FINAL Kevin Egan Kinnitty NS/Roscomroe NS 5-5 (15) Kilcormac NS/Broughall NS 6-9 (21) A stunning array of saves from goalkeeper Jack Ayres wasn’t enough to prevent Kilcormac/Broughall from recording a six-point victory in the first of Wednesday’s Allianz Cumann na mBunscol finals at O’Connor Park in Tullamore. The Kinnitty/Roscomroe combination looked like they were in a commanding position when a hat-trick of goals from Cathal Robinson in quick succession brought them from three points down to four up early in the second half. Good attacking play from Adam McRedmond and Emmet O’Brien helped to keep the scoreboard ticking over for the boys in hoops as well, but strong defending from Dan Feighery and Jack Buckley kept them at bay until the final quarter. Ayres made a series of wonderful saves throughout the second half but he could do nothing to deny Noah Kavanagh and Aaron Dalzell some excellent goals, while three ‘45’s from Dalzell illustrated the dead ball threat posed by the Kilcormac/Broughall midfielder. An overhead kick point from Harry Sweeney and a fine breakaway score from Emmet O’Brien kept the tie in the balance but further goals from Dalzell and Kavanagh wrapped up the win for the Kilcormac/Broughall and completed an end to end encounter that will live long in the memory of all involved. Take a look at the slideshow below to view photos from our Halloween Party! On Thursday the 26th of October two firemen from Ferbane fire station came to visit our school. They spoke to the children about fire safety and the children got a chance to ask lots of questions. Each child also received a fire safety pack.
We would like to extend a big thank you to Alan Feighery for giving each pupil in the school a pumpkin. On Tuesday the 24th of October each pupil went out to Feighery’s field where they saw where pumpkins are grown. The pupils then picked out their own pumpkin and returned into school. They had lots of fun carving out their pumpkins. It was great to see all the older children helping the younger ones. All children were very proud of their finished pumpkins. We are very grateful to Feighereys for supplying each pupil with a pumpkin. |
